Behind the Creativity

Chris Wearner, owner of Design Graphics and Illustration (DGI), has worked for over 37 years in installation, fine art, and graphic design. He has degrees from the Colorado Institute of Art and Metropolitan State University, with backgrounds in Commercial Art, Advertising and Promotions, and Digital Media/Motion Graphics. His graphic design work usually centers around making connections based on marketing research and creating visually stunning graphics and creative layouts. As the lead graphic designer at Adams State University, Chris was twice awarded first place at the National Association for Campus Activities Regional Conference. As a fine artist, Chris mainly works in the medium of watercolor, and he takes great pleasure in the freedom to express his passion for the outdoors. Part of why DGI is unique is the creativity of combining fine art mediums and blending digital color pallets into illustrations. As an Evergreen, Colorado native, Chris is a member of Center for the Arts Evergreen. He has exhibited at the Evergreen Audubon Society and the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce. Chris enjoys a passion for graphic design and the digital age, and DGI’s tag phrase of “Realizing the Graphic Fine Art Continuum” also speaks to his creative passion of utilizing a variety of traditional drawing and painting mediums. As a lifelong learner, Chris is always eager to embrace new trends and technologies.
